Privacy Policy

1. Overview

Luminesca is a small, independent network of free online tools, in-depth game guides, and thoughtful news analysis. This page explains what data we collect, what we don't, and how third-party services handle information on our sites.

2. Information We Collect

  • Automatically collected data: standard web analytics (pages visited, approximate region, device type, referring site). This is aggregated and does not personally identify you.
  • Cookies: we use cookies for analytics and advertising purposes only. We do not collect or store personal data such as names, email addresses, or phone numbers.

3. Third-Party Services

  • Google AdSense: some Luminesca properties display ads served by Google — currently this portal, games.luminesca.net, tools.luminesca.net and travel.luminesca.net. No advertising is currently served anywhere on the network, because the Google AdSense application is still pending. The news sub-site had its ad code removed in 2026, and the hk sub-site carries none.luminesca.net, the dedicated Hollow Knight site. Google uses cookies (including the DoubleClick cookie) to serve ads based on your prior visits. You may opt out of personalized advertising at adssettings.google.com.
  • YouTube: embedded videos on news articles use youtube-nocookie.com to minimize tracking.
  • Pexels & Unsplash: news article imagery is sourced from these free-license platforms under their respective terms.
  • Cloudflare: our hosting and CDN provider, which may process IP addresses for security and edge delivery purposes.

Google Analytics 4 (GA4) runs on every page of the network with IP anonymization enabled. It tells us which pages are read, for roughly how long, and from which approximate region — it does not tell us who you are, and we do not attempt to re-identify anyone from it. Cloudflare serves and protects all of our domains; as part of that it processes standard request data (IP address, user agent, requested URL) under its own privacy policy, chiefly for security and abuse prevention.

We do not run cross-site tracking of our own, we do not fingerprint visitors, and none of our own tools transmit anything you type or upload anywhere — they run entirely in your browser. The games sub-sites include affiliate links to storefronts such as GOG and, where marked, Amazon; affiliate programs may use their own cookies to attribute a purchase, and their policies apply to those cookies. Donations via Ko-fi involve only you and Ko-fi; we never see payment details.

Analytics and advertising data is retained by the respective providers according to their default retention windows (GA4's is set to 14 months on our properties). We do not export or archive individual visitor records.

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Blocking all cookies may affect the functionality of some features, including personalized ads. You may also use private browsing or incognito mode to limit tracking.

If you have a question about the data described here — for example an analytics or advertising concern tied to a specific page — write to the address on our contact page and include the URL in question. We answer every data enquiry personally, and where a request concerns data held by one of the providers listed in section 3 (Google, Cloudflare, Ko-fi), we will tell you which provider controls that record and point you to the right request channel rather than guessing on their behalf. Depending on where you live, you may have statutory rights to access or delete personal data held about you; we support those requests to the extent the data is under our control, which in practice is limited, because this site is designed so that very little personal data ever reaches us.

6. Children's Privacy

Luminesca properties are not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

We may update this policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
